IHT Pakistan organized the specialized O&M Training for Sugar Sector under the umbrella of HP Cogen-Pak in Lahore & Karachi. This project is funded by EU under Switch Asia Programme. The four days training program continued from 10th July 2017 to 13th July 2017 in Avari, Lahore, Pakistan & 17th July 2017 to 20th July, 2017. The OMS (Pvt) Ltd was the resource organization, which provided expert trainers for different aspects of the training.
The course was mainly based on the Operation and Maintenance of HP Cogen systems. On the first day, Safety and Steam Turbines were discussed in detail. OMS experts shared their experiences of power generation in the region and highlighted the best practices that should be adopted. Mr. Anwar elaborated the Safety hazards and how they can be avoided. In Lahore, Mr. Amjad Ali discussed the AC Generator, Oil Control System & Steam Turbines and explained their structure and operation in detail. However, in Karachi Mr. Faraz ud Din & Afzal Siddiqui explained the Steam turbines and AC Generator.
In the second day, Frans Bultessen gave a full day training on Boilers discussing all its aspects in details along with sharing a few methodologies to improve the efficiency of existing Boilers. For the third day of the training; two trainers; M. Soomar Umrani & Mr. Siraj Khwaja discussed all the aspects of the Power System Protection for HP Cogen system and how a fault can be isolated and rectified without effecting the process.
On the fourth day; last day of the training; Mr. Naveed Rasheed delivered a brief training on best O&M Practices. He didn’t only share his experience from the region but also shared some successful international practices which are still not being followed in Pakistan. At the end of the training, the participants were awarded with certificates and souvenirs in recognition of their participation.
